Abstract

Back pain is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide and one of the major global public health problems. “Sit up straight,” is the most repeated counsel on how to maintain a healthy back. It’s the conventional wisdom that you will not get back pain if only you sit with a straight back. The problem is, this is not supported by scientific studies. This paper will discuss the concept of the ideal (commonly advised) versus correct posture (reality) for the best scientific recommendation.
